It’s a…

Girl!

By now many of you already know we welcomed Ms. Cora Eve McKean on January 5, 2011 at 9:53 am.  She weighed 8.3 lbs and was 21 inches long.  We didn’t end up needing an induction, and things progressed pretty smoothly for the most part… had a natural delivery.  Thank you for your prayers.  There was a point when we were potentially going to need an emergency c-section due to her heart rate dropping, meconium in the waters, and a slow-down in contractions.  But they gave us one hour, and things got back on track.  She’s perfectly healthy and perfectly adorable.

We’ve had to stay in the hospital a bit longer than expected due to my bladder not fully cooperating with our plans to go home, but it isn’t a serious problem and hopefully we’ll be headed home tomorrow.  Please pray for that.  I’m really ready to leave.

Well, my dear husband is drastically limiting my computer time, reminding me that all non-feeding moments should be reserved for attempts at sleep, so I’m signing off.  I loaded a few more pictures of our little gal on facebook, if you wanna see her.

  2. Congrats!! Praise God she is healthy and you did well. Did you name her after Cora at ND? Love the name 😉
I better get busy making a sweet little girls quilt. Please keep me in the loop..I will need your mailing address her in the states so i can mail the quilt to you, give her a big kiss and hug from me. Isn't it amazing that prefect little angle was in your belly. In my neonatal nursing years of nursing (28 years) I have been to hundreds of deliverers I have cried at every single delivery…how can someone not believe in God when they see a birth..something i will never understand.
So very happy for you guys.

  5. Beautiful!! She's just beyond beautiful!!
Now, I think I predicted a girl … but then said since I'm always 100% wrong that it would be a boy … so … I should have gone with my first answer and I would have been right for once. Go figure. HA!
Can't believe she was 8 lbs+–where were you hiding her?!
Look for a Ruffled Feathers Gift Certificate soon–either mail or email. Are you registered anywhere here in the States? 🙂

Her name is perfectly beautiful too! Congratulations!! So glad all went well. Get some rest if possible and go with the flow.

  10. Oh Carrie!!! She is absoulutely beautiful!!! What a darling!!! I rejoice in her arrival, as well as the fact that all problems subsided and she was able to make her entrance naturally…after three complicated C-Sections, you better believe I was praying that NO complications would arise for you! 🙂 And the name…oh, Carrie the name…I couldn't think of anything more perfect! I got all teary-eyed when I saw it.

Praying that the issues with your bladder get resolved quickly and you are able to go home soon. I know how hard it is to be stuck in a hospital waiting for a discharge!

    Love you!

  11. Oh my…she is adorable. Enjoy her!! Sleep if you think you need it…but don't worry if you don't. I never wanted to sleep while the kids were sleeping but I did enjoy the quiet time to rest or read! That is during the day!!! At night I slept when they didn't want to be nursed!!

She is beautiful! How in the world did you manage a baby over 8 pounds…it looks like that's about all you gained?!?
My biological babies were so skinny..just over 6 pounds and looked like old men for several months! 🙂 Cora is all filled out and just DARLING!
Prayers for your recovery and adjustment!

  15. Ok, so what I REALLY like is the Baylor shirt in the background of all the pictures! Love both of you–what a big baby! Hey, our Sophie was 21 inches and you know how tall she is! I had similar issues on my deliveries and I remember when Maggie was born they were all worried about her and I didn't have my glasses and NO ONE told me if it was a boy or girl! Girls are great! How much fun to wait and see exactly how the Lord was going to bless you. I'm so lousy with surprises- I have to know. Your family of 3 continues to be in my prayers. Welcome, sweet girl.
